Clerical and Computer Training Programs

All of our Computer Training Programs are accessible for use with screen readers and magnification software. The length of the program is based on entry skill level. Programs are scheduled between 12 to 20 hours per week to simulate a part-time work schedule and allow you to get in a work routine.

Computer Literacy Assessment

This is a 2 to 3 hour performance-based assessment that measures your level of computer knowledge to determine your baseline skills. Results are used to help determine points of entry for your job search, or can also help identify a recommended training path to achieve employment goals. Beginner through expert levels of computer knowledge are assessed, including Windows and Microsoft applications, typing skills and Internet navigation techniques.

Keyboarding Skills Training

This program develops professional skills in 10-key, alpha, and alpha/numeric typing. The goal is to reach a minimum of 20-25 words per minute with 95% accuracy, in preparation for further clerical training programs.

Office Training Program

This program develops the skills necessary to gain employment in the clerical field. The Office Training Program ranges between 2 to 10 weeks in duration. Basic computer skills through intermediate Microsoft Office skills are taught while integrating a variety of clerical tasks such as filing, collating, phone work, and data entry. Once basic computer skills are learned, projects are assigned to allow you to practice and apply the skills learned.
Prerequisite: Typing speed of 20-25 wpm.

Receptionist Training Program

An advanced level of office training with the focus on the receptionist position and associated skills, including greeting, filing, copying, collating, and phone work.
Prerequisite: Typing speed of 25 wpm and completion of Office Training Program.

Customer Service Training Program

This training develops skills required for a variety of customer service positions. Includes activities to build basic computer skills, master customer service principals, and practice telephone calls to simulate customer service duties.
Prerequisite: Typing speed of 25 wpm.

Account Clerk/Bookkeeper Program

An advanced level office training program focused on building specialized skills for either of these positions.
Prerequisite: Typing speed of 25 wpm and Office Training Program; or Typing speed of 25 wpm and score of Level 5 or higher on Computer Literacy Assessment.

Microsoft Applications Refresher Course

One to two week training programs designed to update your knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, and Outlook. This training is developed for those who have experience with the specific application requested, but may need a refresher to improve skills to competitive levels. Duration of program is determined by skill level and existing computer knowledge.
